01Audit & assurance

Statutory audits conducted to International Standards on Auditing, with the same senior staff kept on the engagement year to year so knowledge of the business is not lost.

Who this is for

  • Private limited companies that require an annual statutory audit under the Companies Act 2016
  • Groups that need consolidated accounts audited
  • Listed entities requiring quarterly review or audit support — KCSM states it has served Bursa Malaysia-listed entities in these capacities
  • Companies preparing for a listing, a sale or a bank facility where audited figures will be examined

What we deliver

  • A statutory audit planned around the business's actual risk areas, not a generic checklist
  • An audit team that is also trained in tax, so material tax issues found during the audit are raised, not filed
  • Continuity at senior-staff level across years
  • Findings on financial and operational performance alongside the audit report
  • Reporting framework: MFRS or MPERS as applicable owner to confirm
Request an audit fee proposal Tell us the entity type, financial year-end and approximate turnover; we reply with a scope and fee.

02Tax advisory & compliance

Corporate and personal tax compliance with the Inland Revenue Board, and planning that stays within the rules. KCSM's managing partner leads a tax-investigation division that has grown with the IRB's field-audit programme under self-assessment.

Who this is for

  • Companies that need annual tax computations and returns filed correctly and on time
  • Directors who want the estimate of tax payable (and its revisions) handled rather than guessed
  • Businesses facing an IRB tax audit or investigation
  • Owners planning a transaction, restructuring or succession with tax consequences

What we deliver

  • Preparation of income tax computations and statutory returns
  • Submission of the estimate and revised estimate of tax payable to the Inland Revenue Board
  • Tax planning from routine to bespoke arrangements, within the law
  • Representation and support during tax field audits and investigations
  • Advice on tax incentives — pioneer status, investment tax allowance, MSC status
  • e-Invoice (MyInvois) readiness review owner to confirm scope
Request a tax fee proposal Annual compliance is usually quoted as a fixed fee; investigations and planning by scope.

03Accounting outsourcing

Bookkeeping and management accounts handled by the firm so the company can run its business, with financial controls that stand up to audit.

Who this is for

  • Companies without an in-house accountant, or with one who should not also be the only control
  • Subsidiaries of foreign investors that need Malaysian books kept to local requirements
  • Groups that need consolidated accounts and quarterly figures prepared

What we deliver

  • Monthly or quarterly accounts prepared to the applicable reporting standard
  • Consolidation for groups; quarterly review support for listed entities
  • Design of sound financial-control processes and constructive solutions to problems found
  • Advice on improving profitability drawn from the numbers
  • Payroll and SST support owner to confirm
Request an accounting fee proposal Quoted monthly, by transaction volume and reporting frequency.

04Company secretarial

Incorporation and the statutory duties of a company secretary under the Companies Act 2016, for companies that want the paperwork right the first time.

Who this is for

  • Founders incorporating a private limited company, or buying a shelf company to start trading within 24 hours
  • Companies that need a licensed company secretary and a registered office
  • Boards that need resolutions, filings and registers kept current
  • Owners closing a dormant company by striking off

What we deliver

  • Company formation and incorporation; shelf companies with change of ownership completed to the client's instructions
  • Ongoing company secretarial services: statutory registers, annual returns, board and shareholder resolutions, SSM filings
  • Striking off and winding up of companies
  • Company searches and bankruptcy searches
  • Company secretary qualified as prescribed under the Companies Act 2016 owner to confirm named secretary
Request a secretarial fee proposal Incorporation and annual retainer are usually fixed fees.

05Liquidation & insolvency

When a business is beyond saving, an orderly winding up that realises assets, protects creditors and recovers what has gone unrecorded.

Who this is for

  • Shareholders of a solvent company that has reached the end of its purpose
  • Directors, lenders and other stakeholders of a company in financial crisis
  • Creditors who need a liquidator to investigate fraudulent trading or undue preference

What we deliver

  • Realisation of assets and distribution to creditors and members
  • Investigation into fraudulent trading and undue preference given to creditors
  • Tracing and recovery of unrecorded assets
  • An approach chosen for the maximum financial return, achieved quickly and efficiently
  • Modes offered — members' voluntary, creditors' voluntary, court-ordered owner to confirm
Request a liquidation fee proposal Fees depend on the company's position; an initial discussion is confidential.

06Due diligence & advisory

The other professional work a growing company needs from its accountants: financing, incentives, valuation and special assignments.

Who this is for

  • Buyers and investors who need a target's books examined before committing
  • Companies applying for banking, credit or loan facilities
  • Businesses claiming tax incentives and grants
  • Foreign investors setting up in Malaysia who need a local adviser

What we deliver

  • Due diligence review
  • Business valuation
  • Business financing support — banking, credit and loan facilities
  • Tax incentives and grants — pioneer status, investment tax allowance, MSC status and others

How the firm works

KCSM describes the same three-step approach on every service it offers. It is set out once here rather than repeated six times.

Understand

Build a working understanding of the client, the business, the industry and the requirements — and, importantly, where the key issues and risk areas lie and where value can be added.

Solve

Settle an approach that fits the financial-reporting, tax-compliance and Companies Act requirements and the business's own needs, cost-effectively; identify the issues and provide ideas and solutions.

Plan

Keep a relationship that lets the firm work proactively with the client to anticipate regulatory and business requirements and plan ahead.

The partners

Two founding partners. Names, roles and credentials below are as KCSM publishes them; the firm publishes no photographs.
